The Nedbank Green Economy Fund is intended to provide funding for up to 100 startups in the waste, water, energy and agricultural sectors – the four sectors targeted by Nedbank’s Green Economy Strategy to create sustainable jobs and build wealth while furthering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

How it works

The Fund is strategically designed to elevate the South African green economy through three key objectives:

We provide vital support to green businesses, enhancing their investment readiness.

We offer a platform for businesses to access numerous opportunities and accelerate their innovative ideas.

We contribute to the broader education and development of the South African green economy.


Specifically focused on Seed and Early stage businesses unable to access commercial financing, up to R250,000 in grant funding will be deployed along with opportunities for follow-on investment. The aim of The Fund is to support entrepreneurs nationwide, over three application windows throughout the year.
